Join us to experience the beauty of Indian dance with two vibrant workshops led by Swapnil Dagliya.

Start with the lively Garba workshop, where you'll learn energetic footwork, rhythmic patterns, and circular movements. Then, dive into Indian semi-classical dance with Kathak vocabulary, focusing on foundational techniques, musicality, and mesmerizing pirouettes (Chakkars), along with a beautiful choreography.

These workshops are brought to you by ABC a Bollywood Company in collaboration with Bloomleela Bollywood Dance.

  • €30 per workshop

  • €50 for both workshops if registered and paid before 15th September 2024

Workshop 1: Vibrant Garba Dance Workshop
Feel the energy and joy of Garba, a lively traditional folk dance from Gujarat! Learn its unique circular movements, intricate footwork, claps, and spins. This workshop is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the festive spirit of Garba while also exploring its cultural significance.

Workshop 2: Indian Semi-Classical Dance with Kathak Vocabulary

Dive deep into the elegance of semi-classical dance using Kathak vocabulary. You'll learn foundational techniques, musicality, mesmerizing pirouettes (Chakkars), and master a beautiful choreography that captures the essence of Indian storytelling. This workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to explore the grace and rhythm of semi-classical dance forms.

Both workshops are accessible to dancers of all levels.

SWAPNIL DAGLIYA

Swapnil Dagliya, originally from Pune, India, is an IT engineer by education. He has graduated in contemporary dance and Ballet from the Broadway Dance Center in New York City and Opus Ballet in Florence, Italy.

In 2008, he founded his own dance school, SPACE (Swapnil’s Performing Arts & Contemporary Ensemble), which he managed for ten years. During this period, he also served as the director and curator of AVAYAVA, a contemporary dance festival in India. His teaching experience extends to two universities in India, namely Lalit Kala Kendra at the University of Pune and Flame University.

Swapnil holds a diploma in Indian folk dance and has been teaching Bhangra, a vibrant dance style, for six years. Currently, he serves as the artistic director of Shoonya Dance Centre and an Indian dance company in Ghent, Belgium, named “ABC a Bollywood Company”.

BLOOMLEELA BOLLYWOOD DANCE

Known for her immense love for Indian culture, especially the glitz and glamour of Bollywood, Juanita Koerts, aka Bloomleela, is a true embodiment of filmy charm! From the dramatic costumes to the colortul sets, she brings the essence of Bollywood to life on stage.

A Dutchie with an Indian Heart: With her infectious enthusiasm and boundless love for spreading joy, Bloomleela is on a mission to show that Bollywood is for everyone, regardless of background or age! In 2019, she embarked on a journey of sharing her passion by starting dance classes, leading to the creation of her very own dance group: Bloomleela Bollywood Dance, in Amsterdam. Comprising individuals from diverse nationalities, the group embodies the spirit of unity and joy, proving that Bollywood transcends boundaries!
