The GIDF competition
Are you ready to showcase your creativity and passion for Indian dance? Whether you’re an experienced performer or just starting out, our choreography competition is a fun, supportive, and informal way to present your unique vision to an international jury and an engaged audience!
This isn’t just about competing—it’s a platform to receive valuable feedback, refine your craft, and connect with fellow artists who share your love for dance. Challenge yourself, grow your skills, and make lasting artistic connections. We believe in supporting each other and growing together as artists!
Day & Date
The competition will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, during the Opening Party.
Winners’ Showcase
The winners will perform alongside the festival’s teachers on Saturday, April 26, 2025, with two performance times:
First showcase at 18:00
Second showcase at 20:30
Prizes and Rewards
A trophy for the winner(s)
€100 cash prize for the solo winner
€150 cash prize for the duet/trio winner
€300 cash prize for the group winner

Indian Dance & Its Fusion
This category includes a wide range of dance styles that combine traditional Indian dance forms with contemporary influences, such as Bollywood, folk fusion, or any other creative mix.Indian Classical Dance
For solo, duet, or group performances (3 or more dancers), showcasing the beauty and intricacy of classical Indian dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Kuchipudi, and more.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Our scoring isn’t about perfection—it’s about artistic growth. The jury will consider:
Technique: The quality of movement and transitions
Artistic Expression: How you emotionally connect with the audience
Synchronization: With the music and, in group performances, with fellow dancers
Creativity and Staging: Innovative use of space, costumes, and overall presentation
All choreographies should be rooted in classical, folk, and/or Bollywood Indian dance styles. Fusion and contemporary influences are welcome, but traditional elements should remain prominent.

Solo: Maximum 3 minutes
Duet: Maximum 3 minutes
Group: Maximum 4 minutes

The competition is open to dancers aged 14 and up. Minors must have parental consent to participate.
